About the artist:

To introduce Herbert Prikopa is to concert and theatre goers or to afficionados of first-class TV and radio entertainment is actually superfluous: his is known for (among other things) his extremely popular concert series "For Children and aficionados" as part of the long-standing Austrian radio program "Guglhupf".

The artist, well-trained as pianist, composer and conductor, expanded the palette of his accomplishments impressively during the course of his career and is every bit as successful as author, singer, actor and entertainer. A member of the Vienna Volksoper since 1954, he has truly caused the audience to over-exert its laugh muscles with his portrayal of the Frog in the operetta "Die Fledermaus" or as Dolittle in the successful musical "My Fair Lady". In addition to numerous appearances as singer, also in the Vienna Staatsoper, Herbert Prikopa quickly earned himself an international reputation as oft requested conductor.

As actor, his audience knows Herbert Prikopa not only from appearances in the Theater in der Josefstadt, the Wiener Kammerspielen or the Kleine Komödie but also from many TV- and film productions such as "Die Abenteuer des braven Soldaten Schwejk" (The Adventures of the Good Soldier Schwejk), for example. Appearances in well-known cabaret broadcasts and shows in Austrian and German television and radio round out the astonishing artistic profile of Herbert Prikopa. His congenial colleagues were and still are Karl Farkas, Hugo Wiener & Lore Krainer.

The program "Piano Show for Connoisseurs" is a unique artistic combination of music, cabaret, and patter with background information on particular composers as only an all-round artist such as Herbert Prikopa knows how.
